Recipients will be selected in accordance with the then current guidelines and procedures for fellowship administration established by the College of Medicine. Five new recipients will be selected annually for two-year terms and annual awards will be based on the amount of Fund assets available each year. Awards shall be as distributed as evenly as possible between men and women. Selection will be based on prior personal commitment to one's own professional development, recognized excellence in the faculty member's respective specialty/area of emphasis, quality of the proposed plan for additional education/training, demonstrated skills of collaboration and professionalism and potential as a future leader within academic medicine.
Funds may be used to support registration fees and other approved travel expenses to pursue training within the University, at another university, a professional society or any other nationally recognized training program.
Recipients will be known as Morris Leadership Fellows. In addition to the training described above, they will be assigned to work on existing or special projects in their designated specialty/area of emphasis under the direction of the leadership of the College of Medicine and will receive mentorship from one or more members of the leadership of the College of Medicine and Wexner Medical Center. Recipients will attend quarterly meetings of the Morris Leadership Fellows focused on topics related to professional development that cross the mission areas of research, education, or clinical practice. The Morris family may be given an opportunity to meet with recipients one or more times per year.
