College of Veterinary Medicine

One of the oldest and largest veterinary schools in the United States, the internationally recognized College of Veterinary Medicine offers a four-year Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree; Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy degrees in the Departments of Veterinary Biosciences, Veterinary Clinical Sciences, and Veterinary Preventive Medicine; postdoctoral and residency programs; and ongoing continuing education programs. The college also offers the only comprehensive referral veterinary teaching hospital in a three-state area, which provides state-of-the-art specialty services and procedures for the more than 35,000 companion, equine, farm, and service animal patients admitted each year. Dedicated to excellence in teaching, research, service, and outreach for the betterment of animals and people, the college has made considerable contributions to advancing veterinary medical education, clinical care, and research. Accomplishments include developing the first feline leukemia vaccine and being on the leading edge in the development of advanced orthopedic procedures including fracture repair and arthroscopy in horses and total hip replacement in dogs.
