Boyd and Anne Epperson present a gift in support of the new gateway building to President Karen Holbrook during her visit to the OSU Mansfield campus.

Boyd and Anne Epperson of Galion, Ohio, have made a gift of $100,000 to help finance the OSU Mansfield’s new 35,000-square-foot gateway building, which is expected to be completed by June 2006.

Education has been a top priority of the Epperson family. Boyd, a life-long resident of Galion, is a retired veterinarian; Anne, of East Palestine, Ohio, is a retired dental hygienist. Both are graduates of Ohio State.

“Ohio State allowed us to be successful in very honorable professions and for that we are truly grateful,” Boyd said. “Education is absolutely necessary in today’s world. Ohio State and the Mansfield campus offer quality education, a diverse curriculum, and access.”

Anne said they are proud to be able to contribute to OSU Mansfield for the new flagship building. “Our goal is to do our small part in enhancing the educational opportunities for all people of all ages in this area,” she said.

According to Evelyn Freeman, OSU Mansfield dean and director, “The Eppersons are a very special couple. Their commitment to Ohio State is exemplary and their generous gift is deeply appreciated by The Ohio State University-Mansfield community.”

Boyd serves as president of the board for the First Federal Bank of Ohio and as past president and current board member of the Galion Community Hospital. He is also a co-founder of the Galion Education Foundation.

Anne is serving her final year of a nine-year term as a member of the OSU Mansfield Board of Trustees for the Crawford County area. She also is active on the Galion Public Library Board and was named Galion’s Citizen of the Year in 2002.

In 1996, the Eppersons were selected to receive one of the six Outstanding Development Volunteer Awards during the inaugural year for the honor.
