Moving forward from its recently completed $50 million human cancer
genetics research campaign, The James seeks to develop an
internationally recognized cancer pharmacogenetics program. This
program will develop new therapies at the molecular level that
precisely affect only cancerous and pre-cancerous cells, while
sparing normal cells. Also being planned is a new program of
excellence in cancer population science and control. Focusing on
community outreach based on race, ethnicity, geography, lifestyle,
or environmental influences, the program's team of physicians and
research scientists will identify subsets of the population that are
at increased risk for developing cancer, or whose members already
have the disease.
