Brunch
If you haven’t done so yet by mail,
consider registering for the President’s Club Pre-Game Brunch
online at presidentsclub.osu.edu/brunch. Slated for
Saturday, November 14, three hours prior to the Buckeyes’
kick-off against the Iowa Hawkeyes, the event will be held at
the Recreation and Physical Activity Center, located next to
Ohio Stadium at 337 West 17th Avenue.
Trustees
meet, approve university matters
President Gee's
compensation package, the appointment of G. Gilbert Cloyd as
Ohio State's first Charter Trustee, and three new degrees were
among the matters approved by The Ohio State University Board
of Trustees when it met on October 28 and 29.

publication, Ohio State Impact,
debuts
With its stated goal of informing
past, present, and future Ohio State donors about the
far-reaching impact of private support at the university,
Ohio State Impact magazine debuted this month and can
be viewed
online. Readers are encouraged to share their own
stories of giving and how Ohio State has made an impact on
their lives. Stories can be sent to ohiostateimpact@osu.edu.

to College Board Forum now
available
On October 21 in New York City,
President Gee addressed attendees of the College Board Forum
with a speech entitled, “More than a Sum of Our Parts.” The
full text of his speech—which focuses on the pursuit of
excellence during challenging economic times—can be read online.
Winter College 2010 details
and registration coming soon
Planned for February 19 and 20 at The Ritz-Carlton, Naples, Winter College
2010 is a chance for alumni and friends of Ohio State to
participate in special class sessions taught by some of the
university’s most innovative faculty members. Topics and
presenters will be announced soon, and online registration
will open in early November.

Dentistry students benefit as
part of Students First, Students
Now
Aspiring dentists Cole Bryant and Jon
Draney expected large debt loads to go hand-in-hand with their
schooling. They were surprised and relieved to receive
scholarship support from the Postle family, who have had ties
to Ohio State’s College of Dentistry for nearly 90
years.

Ohio State enrollment
at an all-time high
Autumn quarter enrollment figures at
Ohio State show a 2.7 percent increase, with a record 63,217
students on all campuses. New records also were set in
regional campus enrollment and the number of out-of-state and
international students among the freshman class. First-year
students also set a record with their average ACT (27.5) and
SAT (1230) scores.

Ohio State researchers are
integral part of Ohio’s “economic
engine”
A recent article published in Ohio
State Alumni Magazine describes the ripple effect Ohio
State researchers’ work has on Ohio’s economy. Often resulting
in the creation of jobs, the university’s research projects
help generate an annual statewide impact of more than $4
billion, according to President Gee.

Vets for Pets is a 5K run/walk through
Ohio State’s main campus, with proceeds benefitting The
College of Veterinary Medicine’s classes of 2011 and 2012 and
Shelter Outreach Services of Ohio.
Participants often bring their dogs to join in the event,
which begins at 10 a.m. this Sunday, November 1, and costs $25
per person.
